New Mexico offers magical moments; one I’ve held as most amazing is the fleeting sunset’s golden light flowing over everything like it’s a thick honeyed syrup. I was fortunate to be in the right time and place, with an easel, paint, and a blank canvas. I saw that thick Golden light sliding across a rock wall, turning a simple cliff and rocks, into beautiful magic! I captured the moment. Absolutely thrilled! I carefully carried my wet painting back to the studio.
The following day, I sold it (still wet) to a visiting collector who carried it away. Later realizing I had not taken a photo of the painting! But I had my memories of its magic! And I tried numerous times to re-capture the sense of awe I found in that moment.
