ABOUT -being an ARTIST!

I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1952.

When my family’s economy shifted drastically, it destroyed my Art School dreams. I was 15 and unwilling to be anything other than an artist. I Followed my Mentors advice, to EARN as I LEARNED. I became primarily a SELF-TAUGHT ARTIST and am passionate about SELF-SUPPORTING my CREATIVE EXPANSIONIST Path. I fueled my life’s dream by self-funding my personal artistic growth. Beginning as a scruffy street artist in San Francisco in 1972. I was persistent about evolving my abilities in metal work and innovative designs. During those 20 years, I have won awards and sold my unique jewelry in highend Crafts and Art Galleries. I also honed my work ethic, developed processes that I later used in my Fine Art, and broadened my life experiences.

The shift into Fine Art was made possible by the Business Connections I developed in the Art World. In 1992 I began to sell over 6,000 fine art prints and paintings. Art Agents had faith in my art, they bought 2-thirds of those paintings on paper, canvas as well as enhanced mono-prints. Then they re-sold my art around the world. Yes, I began to dance delicately between commercialism and my own lofty expectations… until my balance arrived as I thought of my Art in the spaces where fellow humans live and work. No, I was not painting for museum walls, but the walls where people worked and lived. I considered how and what my Art could offer to their sense of well-being in their daily lives.  And despite the economic collapse of 2008-09, when my Agents all retired or went out of business. I fell back to my earliest years, selling directly to people at small art events in and around Santa Fe NM.

Difficult as life as an Artist can be, devoting my life to Art; has given me such remarkable life experiences and sweet achievements!

And I’m not finished…
